Chris Chavis
Vice President
As Vice President of PHD Hotels, Inc, Chris Chavis oversees all aspects of the development process once construction is underway. This
includes construction management, FF&E purchasing and hiring of employees. Once the hotel is open, Chris provides leadership and operational
support to the hotels’ management teams. Through his leadership, the effective financial and operational performance of each property is
ensured, while meeting the ultimate goal of exceptional customer service.
A nearby Opelika, AL native, Chris began his hotel career and association with Tom Hunt in 1992 as a team member of the Hampton Inn – Auburn,
AL. Ultimately he was promoted to Assistant General Manager in 1994, and later to General Manager in 1995. In 1999, following the sale of
the Auburn Hampton Inn, Chris was instrumental in opening the company’s first property, Arbor Suites, where he served as General Manager for
two years. In 2001, with over seven years of successful hotel management experience, Chris was named Director of Operations for The Hotel
Group, to later earn designation as Vice President in 2003.
Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University with a dual major in Accounting and Psychology, and is Dale Carnegie Training
certified. An active member of the community, he has served as a Diplomat for the Auburn Chamber of Commerce, is on the Board of Directors
and currently serving as Vice President of the Kiwanis Club of Auburn, is a member of the Lee County Lodging Association, a 2004 graduate of
Leadership Lee County, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Opelika.
